With the German Raw Material Efficiency Prize, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy honors outstanding examples of raw material and material efficient products, processes or services as well as application-oriented research results. Under the technical leadership of the German Raw Materials Agency (DERA), up to four companies and one research institution are awarded the German Raw Materials Efficiency Prize every year.
Companies with up to 1,000 employees based in Germany as well as non-profit research institutions, such as university institutes, technical colleges, Frauenhofer institutions and Steinbeis centers, can take part.
The award is given to examples of increasing raw material and material efficiency, for example in the areas of raw material extraction and processing, recycling, product design with reduced raw material and material requirements, substitution of primary raw materials and redesign of the production environment.
The winners of the German Raw Material Efficiency Prize 2022 will be honored at an official award ceremony in summer 2022 at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). All companies and research institutions nominated for the award not only get the big stage in front of an audience in Berlin, but also receive a professionally produced video about the submitted project, which they can use as part of their public relations work.
